A man was killed Sunday night in an officer-involved shooting.
SALT LAKE CITY — A man was killed Sunday night in an officer-involved shooting.
A police officer stopped a pedestrian on the side of the road at 1002 S. State St. after 10 p.m., said Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Brandon Shearer.
The man „produced a weapon“ when the officer and two other officers were talking with him, Shearer said.
Shearer said de-escalation tactics were used but were unsuccessful, and one of the officers shot the armed man.
The man died after being transported to the hospital.
Shearer described the victim as an African-American adult man.
The Unified Police Department is investigating the shooting. The officer who shot the man will be placed on routine administrative leave, Shearer said.
Shearer said all three officers were wearing body cameras.
