Microsoft announced today that it will be launching the next version of Windows Server, version 1709, at its Ignite 2017 conference in Orlando at the end of next month. Insiders can test it now.
Today, Microsoft published the first in a series of „Sneak Peak“ blog posts about Windows Server, version 1709. In it, the company announced that the feature update to the OS will be launched at its Ignite conference, which will take place from September 25 – 29 in Orlando, Florida.
Windows Server is offered through two channels: Long-Term Servicing and Semi-Annual, the latter of which is where you’ll find 1709. No matter which one you choose though, Microsoft says that, „you are in full control of patching your servers.“
If you want to try out version 1709 now, you can already do so through the Windows Server Insider Program, which has already released three builds of the OS. The most recent was just a couple of days ago, with build 16267.
There will be quite a few new features in the new version of Windows Server, including the Windows Subsystem for Linux, Delivery Optimization for updates, Persistent Memory in Hyper-V, and various other improvements.
Neowin will be at Microsoft’s Ignite 2017 conference next month, and we’ll keep you updated with all of the latest news to come out of the event.
