The celebrities must dance both a ballroom and a Latin style dance routine in a week with two nights of competition, with the first two eliminations.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. September 24,2017 – The 13 celebrity couples have a busy week and fans will need to get busy voting if they want their favorites to avoid being the first couple eliminated in Season 25.
On Monday night’s show, couples all dance routines in a classic ballroom dance style: quickstep, waltz, tango, foxtrot or Viennese waltz, competing for America’s vote. At the end of the night, the first elimination of the season will take place.
But wait, there’s more! In a special Tuesday night edition, the 12 remaining couples tackle “Latin Night,” and dance another routine in a classic Latin style: samba, rumba, cha cha, Paso Doblé, Argentine Tango or salsa. At the end of the night, the second elimination of the season will take place.
This is a lot to ask of the competitors completely new to learning choreography. It would not be a surprise to see either of our real estate related celebrities taken off the market: “Shark Tank’s” Barbara Corcoran with pro Keo Motsepe, or “Property Brother” Drew Scott with Emma Slater. Would someone please reward the long suffering Keo with a sure to make the finals female celebrity in Season 26?
At the end of week 1, Lindsay Sterling and Mark Ballas were tied with Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold at the top with 22 points. Vanessa Lachey and Maks Chmerkovskiy were a point back in third. At the low end, Barbara and Keo sat last with 14 points, just ahead of Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke with 15 points, horribly underscored due to going first. Drew and Emma had 16 points.
The lineup for Monday Night (in alphabetical order):
Barbara Corcoran and Keo Motsepe: Tango – “Whatever Lola Wants” by Sarah Vaughan
Debbie Gibson and Alan Bersten: Quickstep – “This is My Time” by Amy Stroup

For Monday’s show, viewers may cast their votes for their favorite couples via phone during and up to 60 minutes after the end of the “Dancing with the Stars” broadcast in each time zone. Online voting at ABC.com and on Facebook is open for 15 hours, beginning from the start of the episode on the East Coast at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and closing at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT on Tuesday morning.
After someone says goodbye Monday night, the 12 remaining celebrities must shift gears and rhythms with “Latin Night” on Tuesday. The show has a later than usual start at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
If we were betting people, seeing Drew and Emma assigned a Quickstep to the classic Louis Prima “Sing Sing Sing” and a Rumba on Tuesday isn’t looking good for them. WWE Diva Nikki Bella may also struggle to capture the lyrical quality needed for a Waltz with Artem Chigvintsev, and Terrell Owens will need to step up his game in a Foxtrot with Cheryl Burke. We want him to survive to dance a Samba to “Hot in Herre” by Nelly on Tuesday.
On a more positive note, we can’t wait to see Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold’s Samba on Tuesday. Caliente!
