TOKYO—Japan’s government said it wants Kobe Steel Ltd.’s data-falsification scandal resolved quickly, concerned about the reputation of the nation’s manufacturers as they struggle to justify maintaining factories in the country.
“Some have said that this problem could affect the trust in Japan’s manufacturing industry, and the ministry is greatly concerned about this,” Akihiro Tada, the official who oversees the manufacturing industry at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, said Thursday.
