Charter schools are one option in the growing „school choice“ movement. Funded by taxpayer money, these schools are growing nationally, though some states have yet to pass related laws. Find out what sets them apart from traditional public and private schools.
Maureen Joy Charter School opened in Durham, N. C. in 1997, one of the first charters in the state. It’s mission is to provide children from low-income families with a quality education. The school provides bus service to students throughout most of Durham County, and serves breakfast and lunch.
