IONIA COUNTY, MI — A driver who died in a fiery head-on collision east of Lowell has been identified as Shardella Shana White-Smith of Kentwood.
White-Smith, 28, was driving west on M-21 near Whites Bridge Road about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 when an oncoming Ford Explorer crossed the center line.
The Explorer side-swiped a Kia, then struck head-on the Buick Rendezvous driven by White-Smith.
Both the Explorer and Rendezvous caught fire. Rescuers were able to pull the Explorer driver, 42-year-old Christopher Shawn McKibben, from his vehicle but could not save White-Smith.
