Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our four sports writers started with…
We’ve entered the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.
Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.
Detroit Lions minus-2.5 at Green Bay Packers: $550 to win $500
Green Bay is a difficult place to play, and the Lions‘ recent history in this series isn’t great…but all of that is outweighed by the absence of Aaron Rodgers.
Sure, the Packers looked decent without the injured Rodgers in a 26-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints two weeks ago and, yes, last week’s bye has given Brett Hundley more time to get acclimated to the starting job. But in the end, I can’t justify betting on Hundley over a quarterback like Matthew Stafford.
I’ll take the better QB, even when he’s laying points on the road. I’m confident the Lions can win this one by at least a field goal.
Current Standings: Granger (9-8, $12,075), Keefer (12-12-1, $9,641), Brewer (12-12, $8,870), Grimala (5-7, $8,055)
