“The brand is expected to launch three iPhones next year – one with an LCD and two with OLED panels”
Recently, the noted KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that Apple will launch three new iPhones next year, including an iPhone with a TFT LCD panel. It was reported that the upcoming trio of devices will include a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone, a 5.8-inch OLED iPhone and a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone. Now, the latest input from the industry insiders in Japan further confirms the presence of the TFT LCD iPhone in next year’s Apple lineup.
According to the newest speculation, all three iPhone models will come with metal bodies. However, considering that the brand has recently adopted the glass sandwich design to accommodate wireless charging, this seems unlikely. According to previous sources, all three iPhones in 2018 will flaunt the same edge-to-edge bezel-less displays on the front like the iPhone X ( review).
Kuo predicted that since the upcoming devices will follow the aesthetics of the iPhone X, they are likely to be missing Touch ID as well and will have the same TrueDepth Camera system and Face ID sensor. The noted analyst also claimed that it is very likely that the brand will stick to a 6-element camera system on the upcoming smartphones instead of the rumoured more advanced 7-element camera setup. According to Kuo, the brand already has the most advanced camera platform right now on the current-gen iPhone X with the 6P design. A switch to the more advanced camera module might place undue risk on the manufacturing of the handsets.
Speaking of full-screen displays and Face ID, the Cupertino-based tech giant is also working on a redesigned, high-end iPad. This iPad is speculated to be the 2018 iPad Pro and will launched at some point early in 2018. All of the information above has not been confirmed officially and are mere speculations at this point. However, we will bring you latest developments whenever they emerge… so stay tuned.
