FFmpeg 3.4.1 is now available for download
FFmpeg 3.4.1 is the first maintenance update to the major FFMpeg 3.4 „Cantor“ series of one of the most used open-source multimedia backend, and it is currently making its way into the stable software repositories of various popular GNU/Linux distributions.
As expected, this point release includes updated library versions. These are libavutil 55.78.100, libavcodec 57.107.100, libavformat 57.83.100, libavdevice 57.10.100, libavfilter 6.107.100, libavresample 3.7.0, libswscale 4.8.100, libswresample 2.9.100, and libpostproc 54.7.100.
Since we didn’t cover the release of FFmpeg 3.4 „Cantor“ series, we’d take this opportunity to tell you a bit of its highlights. Released in mid-October 2017, FFmpeg 3.4 brings numerous new video filters, audio filter, demuxers and decoders, as well as other goodies.
Among the new video filters included in FFmpeg 3.4, we can mention deflicker, doubleweave, lumakey, pixscope, oscilloscope, unpremultiply, roberts, limiter, libvmaf, tlut2, floodfill, despill, convolve, vmafmotion, and pseudocolor.
New audio filters include afir, crossfeed, surround, headphone, superequalizer, and haas. As for the new demuxers and decoders, we can mention Gremlin Digital Video, raw G.726 (muxer and demuxer), FITS, as well as the Dolby E decoder and SMPTE 337M demuxer.
FITS muxer and encoder are available as well in FFmpeg 3.4, which comes with librsvg support for SVG rasterization, spec-compliant VP9 muxing support in MP4, extra frame format support for Interplay MVE movies, and VP9 tile threading support.
Other goodies, we can mention SUP/PGS subtitle muxer, KMS screen grabber, CUDA thumbnail filter, Rockchip MPP hardware decoding, V4L2 mem2mem HW assisted codecs, libmysofa as default sofalizer filter, and scale_cuda as a CUDA-based video scale filter.
Lastly, FFmpeg 3.4 „Cantor“ supports decoding through D3D11VA, the NewTek NDI input/output device, and updates both cuvid and nvenc headers to Video Codec SDK 8.0.14. You can download the FFmpeg 3.4.1 source tarball right now through our software portal.
