Mark Salling ’s child porn victims could lose their restitution after his suicide.
The “Glee” actor agreed in October to pay each victim who requested it $50,000 as part of his plea deal, but now they may never see that money as he was never sentenced. But TMZ reports that his victims could still sue his estate for damages.
Salling, 35, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in December and was facing four to seven years behind bars with 20 years of probation as part of his deal. He was set to be sentenced in March.
The actor committed suicide on Tuesday after reportedly trying to kill himself by slitting his wrists shortly before reaching a deal with prosecutors. Salling panicked at the sight of his blood at the time.
He was found hanging in a riverbed area in the Tujunga neighborhood of Los Angeles just hours after his family reported him missing.
Salling was first arrested on Dec. 29,2015, after investigators found thousands of files of child pornography on his laptop, a thumbnail drive and an encrypted hard drive. A woman that he had previously dated tipped off authorities after she saw the files.
His lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
