And for desperate Eagles and Patriots fans, the prices may come as something of a pleasant surprise.
Sure, you’re still going to have to fork out to get a seat for the big game in Minneapolis in 12 days’ time. As of the afternoon of Tuesday January 23, the cheapest seats were going for $3,504 apiece, for the upper sections of the Minnesota Vikings’ home.

But the Vikings’ blowout loss to the Eagles in the NFC Championship game on Sunday has made the game a more affordable prospect for followers of both teams involved. Yahoo Finance reported Tuesday that resale ticket prices have continued to fall from a peak of $5,700 since it became clear that the Vikings wouldn’t be the first team in NFL history to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium.
The fall has mostly been driven by the rush by Minnesotans to sell their tickets on. Yahoo reported many had bought them before the NFC Championship game. As late as Sunday, Market Watch reported that a Vikings Super Bowl appearance could send individual ticket prices past $10,000.
That prospect has passed but price-tracking website TicketiQ.com warns that there’s still a danger of prices rising to exorbitant levels as the event nears. “Getting a seat at next month’s Super Bowl isn’t really about how much you’re willing [to] spend. It’s about whether or not you can get your hands on a ticket,” the website’s Super Bowl guide reads—noting that there are only around 1,000 tickets remaining on the secondary market. That’s lower than at this stage in any of the previous three years.
If you’re planning a last-minute trip, then, it may be a good idea to buy now. StubHub.com has tickets available in the Upper End Zone from $3,450. The cheapest single ticket on the NFL Ticket Exchange—via Ticketmaster —is going for $4,494.
Just be thankful, at this stage, (unless you’re a Minnesotan), that the Vikings never made the big dance.
