Sony’s upcoming smartphone without a 3.5mm headphone jack has been spotted on FCC’s website.
“It appears that Sony is dropping the 3.5mm headphone jack from its upcoming smartphone”
Over the past couple of years, multiple brands like Apple, HTC and Xiaomi have dropped the 3.5mm headphone jack from their flagship smartphones. However, companies like Samsung and OnePlus have continued to use the audio jack on their latest devices. Now it looks like yet another company, Sony, will soon be dropping the 3.5mm audio port from its smartphones.
Ahead of the unveiling, a new Sony smartphone has been spotted on the FCC (US Federal Communications Commission)’s website. The unnamed Sony smartphone certified by the regulatory agency doesn’t feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a first for a Sony device. The phone will be using a USB Type-C port for both audio and charging functions,
The FCC website also mentions that the new Sony smartphone is 152.79mm tall and 72.42mm wide. It will be featuring a screen size of around 5.7-inches, and will have slimmer bezels than current Sony devices. The handset will also have support for all 3G and LTE bands. Unfortunately, no other details are available about the device. However, speculations indicate it will be a high-end Xperia offering.
