A Driver his auto into a Connecticut hospital and after that set himself on fire, authorities said Thursday.
The man, who was not distinguished, drove his auto into the stroll in passage of the crisis bureau of Middlesex Hospital in Middletown just before 10 a.m., Mayor Dan Drew said at a public interview.
“In view of witnesses’ announcements, we trust he at that point set himself fire,” Drew said. “We trust this is a detached occurrence and nobody else was harmed.”
The mayor said the crash was “deliberate.” Multiple jars of gas were found inside the man’s auto, which was being sought by police.
The crisis room and adjacent structures were emptied as a safeguard was the inquiry proceeds with, Drew said.
Hospital authorities said the building managed some harm, yet that it wasn’t huge. At the time, 30 patients and 20 staff individuals were inside the crisis office, and have since been exchanged to different parts of the hospital.
The man, who authorities said was in his 20s, was taken to the consume focus at Bridgeport Hospital. Drew would not remark on his condition.
The FBI, state police and Hartford bomb squad were likewise looking through his home in Middletown and homes encompassing it were emptied, the mayor said.
Authorities said the man is known to Middletown police, however wouldn’t yet say how.
