LG has announced a new AI backed camera feature for its upcoming V30 model. The new feature will not only select the best mode while using the camera but will also come with an object recognition mode.
We have already seen a host of AI centric solutions on smartphones(eg. Samsung Bixby and Google Lens.) Smartphone manufacturers are increasingly relying on AI integration to better their offerings and help adapt to individual buyers needs. LG was rumored to be announcing an AI-powered camera feature and the company has finally announced that it will be showing off “the first suite of AI technologies” on a new version of the LG V30.
LG has inadvertently also confirmed that it will be launching a refreshed version of the LG V30 (likely to be called LG V30S.) LG is calling the new AI backed feature Vision AI and it is capable of choosing the best shooting mode by taking into consideration the angle of view, color, reflections, backlighting, and saturation levels. The camera app is trained to pool in all the data and analyse the same to arrive at the best setting.
The AI Vision camera will automatically switch to a Food Mode once it detects that you are trying to capture an image of the food. LG has created more than one thousand unique image categories and users can also initiate image search to check the shopping options. From the looks of it, the Vision AI functions in the same way as the Bixby. That apart one can also scan the QR codes and purchase the items at the best price. LG is also adding more voice commands for the camera including the ones that trigger Food Photo, Panoramic Photo and Image Search.
LG is also going to bring in some of the AI features to the existing LG phones while the others remain exclusive to LG V30s and perhaps the future LG lineup.
