LG unveiled its Artificial Intelligence technology; ThinQ at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Nevada as a part of CES 2018 this year. Now, with the onset of the largest mobile tech trade show in the world, MWC in Barcelona this week, the South Korean based company is all set to unveil its first-ever ThinQ mobile device – The LG V30S ThinQ.
Built on the foundation of last year’s V30, the V30S ThinQ comes with an upgraded 6GB of RAM and storage capacities of 128GB in the LG V30S ThinQ and 256GB in the LG V30S+ ThinQ. A microSD card slot offering storage capacity up to 2TB is also available. Two new colour variants namely, The New Moroccan Blue and the New Platinum Gray aim to give the device a refreshed look. It retains the 6.0-inch 18:9 QuadHD+ OLED FullVision Display (2880 x 1440 / 538ppi) with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 3300mAh battery and a dual Rear Camera setup (16MP Standard Angle (F1.6 / 71°) / 13MP Wide Angle (F1.9 / 120°)) with a 5MP Wide angle front shooter from the original V30.
However, apart from these minor hardware changes, the biggest change with the LG V30S ThinQ comes in terms of software.
With Vision AI LG intends to transform the camera and presents three new intelligent camera features: AI CAM, QLens and Bright Mode.
AI CAM uses machine learning technology to automatically recognize the scene between eight different scene modes: portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset and choose the optimum mode for a more desirable image.
QLens brings the QR scanner right to your camera app to improve the online shopping experience and also offers image search capabilities.
Moreover, LG plans to solve the low-light smartphone photography crisis where even the best of mobile cameras fail, with its Bright Mode to obtain better and brighter images in low light.
With Voice AI LG has incorporated Google Assistant in its exclusive AI that enables users to perform basic functions like opening apps to entirely eliminating the need to search through menu options and straightaway search for the setting one needs through their voice.
LG plans at putting the customer needs above all else and in a statement said that other LG smartphones that have the optimum hardware required for ThinQ will be offered the AI experience with a software update.
