The Attorney General is investigating the university after it harbored sexual abuser Larry Nassar for nearly two decades.
LANSING, MI — Michigan State University has turned over a series of requested documents to Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette’s office as special prosecutor Bill Fosyth investigates the institution.
MSU has come under fire after a series of victim impact statements from more than 150 women who say they were abused by Larry Nassar, a doctor the university kept on staff after what victims say were multiple warnings to university staff members about his behavior. Under the guise of medical treatment, he digitally penetrated girls and women for his own sexual pleasure.
The University has turned over 45,000 pages of things like staff calendar entries and university records related to internal investigations on Nassar and other employees, according to a letter from Patrick Fitzgerald of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, a law firm hired by MSU.
Andrea Bitely, a spokeswoman for Schuette, confirmed the agency had received documents, though she said she could not confirm a specific number or the completeness of the information.
„Our investigators and litigators will be reviewing those documents,“ Bitely said.
Engler tweeted it was a prompt response.

In a letter Forsyth had sent the university earlier this week, he requested a series of documents, including communications from certain individuals about Nassar, calendar entries from former College of Osteopathic Medicine Dean William Strampel, who put conditions on Nassar when he was reinstated after a 2014 investigation.
The university is moving to fire Strampel, who is on medical leave.

The university is continuing to collect additional requested documents for Forsyth’s team and „will produce it to you as soon as possible, on a rolling basis,“ according to the letter.
