New base Surface Book 2 model announced today
This means that as compared to the other Windows 10 devices on the market, the Surface Book 2 is a more expensive laptop, with pricing previously starting at $1,499 for the base level.
Microsoft launched a Surface Book 2 laptop with 128GB storage instead of 256GB and by simply reducing the storage capacity, the company was able to cut its price from $1,499 to $1,199.
What’s also very important is that the other technical specifications of the device have remained unchanged, so the only difference you’re going to feel is just in terms of storage. And given that the Surface Book 2 comes with USB ports, that’s not such a big drawback because you can always expand storage with removable drives, so this could really make the device available to more people.
The new base Surface Book 2 configuration comes with a 13.5-inch display and is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor paired with 8GB RAM. If you go for the i7 processor option, the 8GB RAM model can only be paired with 256GB storage, and the price is bumped to $1,999.
The 128GB storage option isn’t available for the 15-inch Surface Book 2 either, so it’s been specifically implemented for the base configuration detailed above
You can head over to the Microsoft Store right now to purchase the new Surface Book 2 version, and at this point it’s not yet clear if this is an offer exclusive to the US or Microsoft wants to make it available for everyone in global stores too.
