LG has announced the LG V30S ThinQ. The design looks like a carbon copy of the LG V30, albeit with more RAM, internal storage and a new AI helper in the camera app.
The V30S features roughly 90% the same hardware as its predecessor. This includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 18:9 1440p FullVision OLED display, and the dual camera setup at the back.
Memory has been increased from 4GB to 6GB, and storage options now come in a choice between 128GB or 256GB. Also, two new colours are introduced with the model – New Platinum Grey and New Moroccan Blue.
The biggest change in the software is in the new camera app. LG has integrated a new module called AI Cam into the camera. It can intelligently distinguish the subject on screen and set the appropriate setting for the user. The machine learning algorithm was created by EyeEm, which claims to have trained it on over 100 million images.
Other new features in the camera app include the QLens which can act like Google Lens or Bixby Lens to search the web for related information based on the image on screen; additionally LG introduced a new photo mode called Bright Mode, which combines four pixels together to create brighter pictures in low-light situations.
Reports are saying that the camera software features are heading to current V30 smartphones in the near future. LG is set to start selling this model from March onward in Korea; we do not have any news if LG will be bringing this model to Malaysia.
