A total of 32 female students in Japan voluntarily left public high schools between fiscal 2015 and fiscal 2016 due to pregnancy or childbirth, on advice from their schools, an education ministry survey found Friday.
A total of 32 female students in Japan voluntarily left public high schools between fiscal 2015 and fiscal 2016 due to pregnancy or childbirth, on advice from their schools, an education ministry survey found Friday.
The ministry told the boards of education across the country not to advise such students to leave their schools or expel them without careful thought. Releasing a report on its first such survey, the ministry said that full-time public high schools confirmed 1,006 cases of pregnancy among their students over the two years while part-time schools recognized 1,092 cases.
