Ever since the first Apple Watch was released, it was available in just the 38mm and 42mm sizes. In 2017, the first smartwatch from the company, the Apple Watch Series 3 came with eSIM technology and that did not require you to pair your iPhone if you wanted to check out notifications.
For 2018, Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at KGI Securities has pointed out that customers might be wanting to see something different and that difference could be offered to them in a different watch design and bigger screen. Here are the things that could be changed about the smartwatch, according to the latest report given by Kuo.
As per the report, Ming-Chi Kuo has said that the next Apple Watch, which if Apple goes according to original naming in numerical form is going to be called Apple Watch Series 4. The screen could be increased by 15%, and Apple could reduce the bezels on the next wearable.
A bigger screen could result in a bigger battery capacity, resulting in a higher ‘screen on’ time for Apple Watch Series 4 owners. If the bezels have been slimmed, then it means that customers will not be moving around with an abnormally large watch face and they will have more screen in front of them to check out a different set of notifications.
Like last time, Apple could offer the Apple Watch Series 4 in an LTE version too. This version will not require users to pair their iPhones and they will be able to receive notifications and alerts without having to carry an iPhone in their pocket. Ming-Chi Kuo also reveals that if Apple were to reduce the price of its smartwatch, it could result in higher shipments.
We don’t understand how increasing the display size and slimming down the bezels could result in a lower-priced Apple Watch Series 4, but if the announcement is going to take place in September of this year, we could have some nice little surprises waiting for us.
