Kotaku is out with huge news today, reporting that the next addition to the Call of Duty franchise will be Black Ops 4. According to their sources Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is happening and will be set in a near-future setting.
There are no hints given by Activision as to what the next Call of Duty title will be about, yet Kotaku is confident that their sources are legit. If the report is true then Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is in development by Treyarch, the studio behind the first three Black Ops games. Its setting will be in the near future, a more realistic adaptation of the franchise than what we’ve seen in Infinite Warfare.
Following the news, NBA Houston Rockets star James Harden has been seen wearing a full camo and a hat with what looks like a Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 logo, tonight’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Soon after, Kotaku confirmed that Harden is indeed wearing the official logo of the game, we don’t know though if he’ll be a member of the cast.
Truth be told, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s logo isn’t far different than the one Black Ops 3 had, which isn’t as creative as we would have hoped. Take a look:
The news actually fit the leak about GameStop listing Black Ops 4 merchandise in its system. If that is true then Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be releasing this year, with a possibility of it being bundled with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Activision recently tested Call of Duty Battle Royale mode in China, making us wonder if it could be implemented in Black Ops 4.
The next Call of Duty title will release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is expected to be optimized for Xbox One X and PS4 Pro as well.
