Head to Io for some exotics
Our Destiny 2 guide explains everything you need to know, including choosing a class, a guide to Exotic armor, emotes, weapons, sparrows and ships, how to trigger Heroic Public Events and much more.
If you played D estiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and he can now appear all over the map. This week, he’s on Io, and there’s a helpful icon on the planet map to show you where he is. You can find Xur just north of the Giant’s Scar landing zone. He’s hanging out in a little cave.
Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:
Each of the items comes at a maximum power level of 305 — a base power of 300, plus a Legendary (purple) mod that raises the value by five. This scales to your character’s power level, so make sure you’re buying Xur exotics on your highest level character.
The Skyburner’s Oath is a scout rifle modeled after the Cabal’s slug rifle. Its first exotic perk is Slug Rifle, which causes the gun to deal Solar damage and become more powerful when you’re aiming down its sights. The second exotic perk is For the Empire. This perk makes the gun fully automatic, deal extra damage to Cabal enemies and, most importantly, penetrate the shields of Phalanx enemies.
All of the perks around Skyburner’s Oath make it sound fantastic. Unfortunately, it fires so slowly that it’s very difficult to get any real use out of it. This is a gun you use because it looks cool or you like the convenience of being able to fire through shields. If you want to pick this up for late game activities like raiding or the Nightfall, there are more useful guns.
This is one of the best exotics in the game. Its main perk, Hawkeye Hack, causes Golden Gun to fire only one shot instead of three. However, this single shot does about six times the damage of the average Golden Gun. Players who love raiding or PvE in general need to but it. It’s also exceptional for boss damage.

The Doom Fang Pauldron is pretty cool if you’re into the Sentinel Titan. Their exotic perk, Horns of Doom, cause shield bash kills to quickly recharge your shield throw while using your Super. Additionally, melee ability kills give you extra super energy. If you like the top tree of Sentinel, this is a fun exotic that you can use in strikes. If you’re a regular Sentinel user, pick these up.

The Wings of Sacred Dawn is one of the weirdest looking exotics in all of Destiny 2. Its exotic perk, Tome of Sacred Dawn, allows you to hover while aiming in the air, keeping you suspended for a short period of time. The more precision hits you get like this, the longer you stay up. Dawnblade is finally getting some much needed buffs, making it a more desirable spec to pick. If you already love Dawnblade or are planning to pick it up soon, this is a fun chest to pair with it.
Best Warlock Exotic armor in Destiny 2
The Fated Engram is new as of the Dec. 12 update. Buying one may be expensive, but it guarantees you an exotic that you don’t have. If you find yourself drowning in Legendary Shards and missing a few key Exotics, this is a pretty great way to spend your Shards. You can only get one per account, once a week. However, some players are reporting that the Fated Engram is failing to give them new exotics. Buyer beware.
This old farming buff has returned from the Destiny graveyard to help you farm exotics. Also new as of Dec. 12, Three of Coins is a four-hour buff that increases the odds of Exotic engrams dropping in the wild. Bungie clarified their effectiveness, and they don’t seem particularly worth the steep Legendary Shard cost at the moment.
