MCS sent a statement to the Star Press Tuesday afternoon, informing of the updated location.
MUNCIE, Ind. — Central High School officials have moved their student walkout indoors, according to a brief statement submitted by the administration.
Muncie Community Schools sent an email to the Star Press Tuesday afternoon noting cold weather as reasoning for the location change.
„Due to the weather and cold temperatures, the students have moved their walkout event to the auditorium,“ Ana Pichardo, Director of Communications at MCS, said in the statement.
Before the switch, Central was the lone high school that had told the Star Press it would allow students to walk outside on Wednesday, the day of the National School Walkout. Administrators from high schools such as Daleville, Yorktown and Delta have said they won’t allow students to leave class.
The national walkout is for students to honor the 17 victims from February’s Parkland, Florida, school shooting. It’s also been designated as a call to Congress to implement legislation protecting students from gun violence.
