Alex Gonzalo has run his family business in downtown Cape Coral for years.
Last month, the Verizon store down the street was tagged by graffiti, and when he looked behind his building, he noticed his business was hit as well.
“No one likes that type of stuff the graffiti everyone things there are gangs, and we don’t want that,” said Gonzalo.
Cape Coral police released a photo of the man they suspect has been tagging up the city.
The problem isn’t just limited to downtown.
“You can see him come from the back of the Seawall and you can see him going down the steps and along back in here is where he tagged,” said Rachel Motz.
Last month a man spray painted the seawall behind Motz’s business off Del Prado Blvd. “You can tell (by) the hair and the beard it’s the same guy,” said Motz.
The graffiti could cost hundreds to paint over.
“It’s just frustrating…you got to take time out of work to fix that,” said Gonzalo.
Corporal Phillip Mullen said police had received numerous calls for graffiti in the past few weeks, a rarity for Cape Coral.
“We don’t want to see this in our city so if anyone has information we want to know,” said Mullen.
Frustrated businesspeople are hoping someone recognizes this man and speaks with police before he strikes again.
