Sony unveiled two new high-end smartphones – the Xperia XZ2, and the Xperia XZ2 Compact – at the MWC 2018 exhibition a couple of days ago. The company announced that both phones would feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. However, Hong Kong and Taiwan consumers could be lucky as the brand is going to release the phones in those markets with not 4GB but 6GB of RAM.
This information has been revealed by the specifications that were mentioned on the company’s official websites for Hong Kong and Taiwan. The pricing for these phones hasn’t been revealed yet, but its likely that the company would sell it at no additional price. If that happens, it would be a cherry on the cake for consumers in those markets as they will have better experience due to additional RAM.
The Xperia XZ2 features a 5.7-inch TRILUMINOS Display with Full HD+ resolution (2160×1080 pixels0. The screen has 18:9 aspect ratio, minimal bezels, HDR content playback capabilities, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Xperia XZ2 Compact features a 5-inch Full HD+ resolution with the same features as that of the screen on the XZ2. Powering the phones is a Qualcomm’s best-in-class chipset, the Snapdragon 845. There’s 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB UFS storage, and microSD card slot for storage expansion.
The device runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and features a rear-facing fingerprint reader. The imaging on both the phones, the XZ2 and the XZ2 Compact, is handled by a 19-megapixel rear-facing Motion Eye camera that offers Predictive Hybrid Autofocus (contrast-detection + laser autofocus + phase-detection autofocus), ƒ/2.0 25mm Sony G Lens, 4K HDR video recording capabilities at 30fps, and 1080p super slow-motion video recording at 960fps.
As far as the information about the launch of these smartphones in India is concerned, there’s no clarity on it right now, but you can expect Sony to bring these devices to India in May or June 2018.
