The Redmi 4 handset will now be available at a starting price of Rs 8,499, post a price cut of Rs 500. The price reduction is valid on two storage variants of the smartphone. Launched in June 2017, Xiaomi Redmi 4 comes in three options. The variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage is now priced at Rs 8,499, whereas, the 4GB RAM coupled with 64GB variant can now be purchased at Rs 10,499. The base model that offers 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage has not received any price cut and costs Rs 6,999. The smartphone can be purchased from Amazon India website as well as Xiaomi’s official store mi.com.
In terms of specs, the Redmi 4 features a 5-inch HD display of 720x1280p resolution with 2.5D curved glass on top. It is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor and runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based MIUI 8 out-of-the-box. Besides the above-mentioned storage options, users also get a microSD card support of up to 128GB.
Backed by a 4,100mAh battery, it has a 13 megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. On the front, the device has a 5 megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
In terms of connectivity options, the device offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS and a fingerprint sensor.
The successor to Redmi 4, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 has been claimed by the company to be an improvement in terms of design, camera and performance. It too comes in three storage options of 2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage that comes at Rs 7,999, the second variant is priced at Rs 8,999 that offers 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage and lastly, the 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant is priced at Rs 10,999.
