Rockstar Games announces that a new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer will be released this week, which will potentially give a clearer picture of the game’s setting.
Rockstar Games has announced that a brand new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available this week, givings fans their third ever look at the western open world shooter. The new trailer is due to drop this Wednesday, May 2,2018, and will be available on both YouTube and the official Rockstar Games website. While not much about Red Dead Redemption 2 has been shown so far, the previous trailers have revealed that players will don the boots of an outlaw named Arthur Morgan who has ties with the van der Linde gang from the first game.
Fans who completed the original Red Dead Redemption will be familiar with Dutch van der Linde and his gang, a group that gravelly-voiced cowboy John Marston attempted to extricate himself from. Given that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel, Marston himself could potentially make an appearance in the sequel, though Rockstar has predictably remained tight-lipped on any potential high-profile appearances. There are still many questions about the scene and setting of Red Dead Redemption 2, and fans will be hoping that this Wednesday’s trailer will deliver some answers.
Unlike the previous protagonist, Arthur Morgan appears to be a man who kills without remorse, threatening children and shooting those who oppose him. The second trailer revealed that he’s good friends with Dutch, the violent leader of the van der Linde gang. Within the same posse of thieves is Abigail, Marston’s eventual wife, implying that an appearance from the original protagonist is more than likely.
Some had speculated that the man in the image at the top of this article, which Rockstar released to promote the upcoming trailer, may actually be Marston himself. While the facial hair and hat lead to some similarity, Marston didn’t have a horizontal scar on his right check, but rather three diagonal claw marks. Whoever the man in the image is, he isn’t Marston – though it’s possible that he may have a starring role in the upcoming trailer.
After the massive financial success of GTA: Online, it’s looking likely that Rockstar Games will implement a hefty online mode into Red Dead Redemption 2 which may even feature the wild west’s answer to the popular Battle Royale game mode. Rumors about this potential mode spread so quickly that Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had to chime in to state he prefers innovation for long-term success, but also acknowledged that Take-Two pays attention to what consumers want.
For now, however, fans will have to wait for Wednesday’s trailer before any questions are answered.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will release on October 26,2018 for PS4 and Xbox One.
