The crash happened Sunday, April 1
HOLLAND, MI — Police want the public’s help to identify the driver of a vehicle that was on River Avenue when a another car struck a pole, killing one.
William Montano, 34, of Holland, was driving a 1996 Honda Civic north on River Avenue about 11:35 p.m. Sunday, April 1 when it struck a pole near First Street.
Montano died and a 21-year-old passenger, Janelle Ortega, was critically injured in the crash.
After interviewing witnesses, police say they believe a another car also was going northbound at the time of the crash.
The car was described as a smaller, light-colored vehicle, possibly a Honda similar to the one involved in the crash.
Police say they don’t believe the other driver was to blame for the crash, but want to speak to that person to get more information.
Police earlier said speed and alcohol were believed to be factors in the crash.
Anyone with information about the second vehicle can call police at 616-355-1737 or Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT.
