A new report has now surfaced online suggesting that the telecom operator might soon launch its DTH set-top-box and IPTV services in the country. The company has not yet made any official announcements but it seems that the service will be called as JioHome TV.
Reliance Jio’s entry stormed the telecom industry and the telco has managed to garner the subscriber base of 160 million. After succeeding in 4G data segment, it seem now the telco is planning to focus on other segments such as television and broadband. The company has also cleared its stance that it is working in this direction.

As per a report by TelecomTalk, JioHome TV service is expected to offer 200 SD and HD channels at a starting price tag of Rs 400. The plan is also listed in the MyJio app under the JioTV segment.
The expected to launch JioHome TV could be the eMBMS (Enhanced Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service) which the company is testing for quite sometime now. The eMBMS is a hybrid technology that fuses the broadcasting architecture used by TV channels and FM radios with the one used by telecom service providers.
Recently, a JioBroadcast app was also spotted on the Google Play Store. The app was said to offer HD quality streaming service on Jio LTE-Broadcast test devices. The report also suggests that the telecom operator will soon make the JioBroadcast service live for its users. It is also expected that the JioHome TV is the rebranding of JioBroadcast.
Last month, it was reported that Reliance JioPhone will soon be able to support WhatsApp. According to WaBetaInfo (@wabetainfo), a Twitter account that tracks changes in WhatsApp’s beta builds, the company is working on developing an app for the KaiOS. This means that JioPhone users will soon be able to use WhatsApp on their device.
In an official blog post WaBetaInfo wrote, “Important references about the development of a new native KaiOS app had been found in the latest WhatsApp beta for Windows Phone 2.18.38, indicating the presence of a new platform that can be connected to WhatsApp servers.”
