With the arrival of a new prince on Monday, there’s only one question left: What’s his name?
Duchess Kate gave birth to a son late Monday morning, and while the couple hasn’t announced the name of their new bundle of joy, they will most likely go the classic and regal route like they did with Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Bookies revealed the top names being floated for baby No. 3… and they’re all deeply rooted in royal history.
With odds at 2/1, Arthur is the top contender for the new prince’s name. The moniker is special to the royal family — not only is it the middle name of Prince Charles and Prince William, it is also the middle name of the Queen’s father George VI.

The next favorite, with 4/1 odds, is James, which is the name of Kate Middleton’s brother and the new prince’s uncle. The name also has a regal history, with James I, son of Mary, Queen of Scots, serving as the king of Scotland for 36 years.
Another contender? Albert. By choosing Albert, William and Kate will be paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s father, George VI, whose name was actually Albert Frederick Arthur George.
And last, but certainly not the least, the name Philip has been floating around as a possibility for quite some time. The name is no doubt a tribute to Prince William’s grandfather and Queen Elizabeth’s husband, Prince Philip. In fact, both Charles and William have Philip as a middle name.
Kate and William are expected to introduce their new son to the world outside the steps of Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital any moment now. Paparazzi and royal fans have been patiently waiting outside the hospital. For more on Kate’s birth, watch the video above!
