Would a Rainbow Six Siege battle royale mode be a good thing? The game’s community manager doesn’t think so, immediately shooting the idea down on Twitter.
A Rainbow Six Siege battle royale mode isn’t too hard to imagine. With games like Fortnite and PUBG practically taking over the gaming world, we’re seeing other developers scrambling to keep up, with many trying their hands at incorporating battle royale into their own games. Warface, Dying Light, and Paladins, to name a few, have all attempted to adapt to the battle royale demand.
As part of an elaborate April Fool’s Day prank, YouTube creator Prodigio Pete made a video in which he „confirmed“ that a Rainbow Six Siege battle royale mode was in the works, with an alleged ex-Ubisoft exployee spilling the details on the new game type, its modes, and other surprising details.
Despite the video being published on April 1, the day in which every news story should be heavily scrutinized, many viewers were tricked into thinking that Ubisoft is seriously considering bringing battle royale to Siege. Many took issue with the way that Ubisoft was apparently going to „phase out“ existing game modes, in order to make room for battle royale. Those who wanted to play normal game modes would need to buy a Rainbow Six Siege „Classic Edition.“
One user reached out to Rainbow Six Siege Community Manager Craig Robinson, complaining that battle royale would ruin Siege. Robinson immediately shot down any notion of a Rainbow Six Siege battle royale mode, saying that the idea is „f***ing absurd.“
It’s an April fools joke. You need to relax and think about it for like… two seconds.
Battle Royale in Rainbow Six Siege? That’s fucking absurd.

That sounds pretty conclusive to me! Unless Robinson is bluffing, it doesn’t sound like Ubisoft is considering battle royale for Siege. Though, I wouldn’t rule out the mode for other Ubisoft titles… Ghost Recon Wildlands Battle Royale, anyone?!
