The Realme 1 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will look to take on the Redmi Note 5 Pro in the affordable mid-range segment. Here’s what you need to know.
Oppo on Tuesday launched a new sub-brand called Realme, which will take on the like of Xiaomi and Honor in the budget to mid-range segments. Realme aims to create products that will be priced in the budget to mid-range segment and the Realme 1 is its first phone that fits into this category. The phone comes with an attractive Black Diamond design similar to the Oppo F7 and also touts impressive specs under-the-hood aimed for the „youth“ that require a fast, multitasking-capable phone.
The Realme 1 will look to take on the likes of the Redmi Note 5 in the sub-Rs 10,000 segment and the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 in the sub Rs 15,000 price bracket. The latter two are among the best all-rounders in this segment right now, but Realme feels that the Realme 1 with its MediaTek Helio P60 chipset paired with up to 6GB RAM and an attractive design has enough to take them on. Display: The Realme 1 sports a 6.0-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
Processor: The handset is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset.
RAM: The phone will be offered in three memory variants – 3GB, 4GB and 6GB of RAM.
Internal storage: It will come with 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.
Rear camera: The Realme 1 bears a 13-megapixel sensor on the rear with LED flash and the camera supports PDAF and bokeh mode.
Front camera: Up front, you get an 8-megapixel sensor which supports screen flash and depth mode as well.
Connectivity: The Realme 1 supports dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 801ac, Bluetooth 4.2, FM Radio and 3.5mm headphone jack to name a few.
— Realme is touting the Realme 1 as a premium-looking affordable phone. One of the highlights of the phone is its glossy Diamond Black design on the rear which is similar to the Oppo F7. Apart from that, the phone also highlights a tall 18:9 display up front.
— Design aside, the Realme 1 also boasts of an AI-powered MediaTek Helio P60 chipset coupled with 6GB of RAM. Realme says that the chipset comes with cooling power that will keep the phone from overheating even under intensive use, while the memory will allow for easy multitasking.
— The Realme 1 also brings some additional AI smarts to the cameras as well with AI Shot which can highlight 296 facial points to recognise a person’s gender, age and skin to take the best selfie.
— Realme is also teasing impressive battery life. The Realme 1 houses a 3,410mAh battery which should last you a full day and then some. The phone also comes with an AI battery management feature that should help give the phone some extra juice.
The company has launched the Realme 1 in three variants starting at Rs 8,990 for the 3GB + 32GB model, Rs 10,990 for the 4G + 64GB variant and Rs 13,990 for the high-end 6GB + 128GB version. The base variant will try to take on the Redmi Note 5 while the other two variants will compete against the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and Redmi Note 5 Pro to name a few.
The Realme 1 will be sold exclusively on Amazon India with the first flash sale taking place on May 25 starting at 12pm. The company also announced a few launch offers as well such as 5 per cent cashback with SBI Bank and Jio benefits up to Rs 4,850, among others.
