Diablo job listing whets fans’ appetite for new game

Whatever it is could be a long way from completion, though
A job opening posted by Blizzard on its official website seeks a developer for an “unannounced Diablo project,” kicking up anticipation among that game’s faithful that something new is on the way.
The listing is rather specific that Blizzard needs a dungeon artist “to build atmospheric dungeons.” Who knows what Blizzard is working on, whether it’s a sequel, expansion or a spinoff, but this doesn’t sound like a mobile game or similar derivative. We’ve emailed Blizzard to ask for more information but it’s unlikely they would up and confirm a new game based off a job listing alone. The project could be years from completion, anyway.
It’s also important to remember that Blizzard lists jobs for this franchise with some frequency, although not always so specifically. In 2016 they were looking for a new game director for the franchise to “lead the Diablo series into the future.” And in 2015, Blizzard listed an opening for an art director on an unannounced Diablo project, too.
The last time Diablo hit the news, a rather oblique tweet from Blizzard back in March had folks speculating that the series was coming to Nintendo Switch. Blizzard said it had nothing to announce, however, and a Nintendo Direct came and went that week with no news of Diablo.
For the game itself, the last major development came a year ago, when Diablo 3 ’s Rise of the Necromancer expansion brought back the Necromancer as a playable class.
