Apple has released the latest developer betas iOS, watchOS, macOS and tvOS and, as is often the case, there’s a clue about new products.
The second iOS 12 developer beta seems to reveal the next Apple Watch models, according to evidence discovered by the keen-eyed folks at 9to5Mac.
The identifiers are Watch4,1, Watch4,2, Watch4,3 and Watch4,4, which is likely to represent the Apple Watch Series 3. This would make sense given the current Series 3 models are identified as Watch 3.1 – Watch 3.4.
Recent reports have suggested new Apple Watch models will arrive this autumn, perhaps alongside the 2018 iPhones or shortly thereafter.
Speculation has suggested those phones will offer larger displays without increasing the physical footprint of the device. It has also been rumoured there’ll be a secondary button sitting beneath the Digital Crown.
We definitely know any new Apple Watch will include the Walkie Talkie feature announced as part of watchOS 5 during WWDC earlier this month.
The latest version of the watchOS 5 developer beta, released today, now includes the first working version of this feature, allowing testers to take it for a spin.
Unfortunately, the wearable operating system won’t support the first-gen Apple Watch, so early adopters may be looking towards the next Apple Watch Series 4 for their Walkie Talkie fix.
iOS 12 beta 2, which is likely to land with public beta testers in the next few days, is more stable than previous launches, cutting down on the number of app crashes.
Later this year the final iOS 12 operating system will deliver a revamped Siri with Shortcuts, grouped notifications, improvements to the Do Not Disturb feature and the ability to keep tabs on screen time.
iOS 12 will also improve performance for older iPhones, boost the AR capabilities and group chats in FaceTime.
