Fashion design competition returns to original home after being axed by Lifetime amid Weinstein scandal
Magical Elves, the original production company behind “Project Runway,” will return to the fashion design competition show as it moves back to Bravo.
The company, which also produces “Top Chef,” produced the first five seasons of “Project Runway” before the show was moved to Lifetime in 2008. Lifetime parent company A+E Networks dropped the Weinstein Company-produced show amid the Harvey Weinstein sexual misconduct scandal last year.
At NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation to advertisers last month, Bravo announced that it planned to revive the show. The new season is slated to premiere in 2019.

“We could not be more thrilled to return as the producers of Project Runway,” said Dan Cutforth, co-founder, Magical Elves, “We built the series from the ground up with Bravo and it is part of the DNA of our company.”
“Dan and I have always loved ‘Runway’ so much and we can’t wait to return to it with a renewed creative energy,” said Jane Lipsitz, co-founder, Magical Elves, “We are really excited to reflect some of the incredible changes that have happened in the fashion world since we last produced the series.”
