Apple will soon be launching the new models under its iPad Pro lineup. The upcoming launch will belong to the 2018 series of the iPad Pro. Apple will most likely unveil the new series by the end of this year. As is the case with every upcoming device, the rumours about the iPad Pro 2018 are also abuzz. In the latest scoop, supply chain blog Macotakara has revealed some essential details about the design and hardware elements of the iPad Pro 2018 lineup. Let’s take a look.
The first significant revelation comes for the headphone jack, which may not be a part of the 2018 lineup of the iPad Pro. Macotakara states that Apple is most likely to give up on the headphone jack in the upcoming iPad Pro series. We can say that Apple is catching up on this trend quite late for the iPad, the company first gave up on the headphone jack when it launched the iPhone 7 without it. To recall, Apple bundled the iPhone 7 ( review) with Lightning to 3.5mm headphone adapter to give some edge to the users, but that won’t be the same for the upcoming iPad Pro. According to Macotakara, the company might ship it without any adapter.
After the iPhone X, Apple shook the entire smartphone industry and also got plenty of Android Phone manufacturers to follow the notch trend blindly. Now, it would only feel lame if the company does not incorporate the same in its upcoming iPad Pro lineup. Yes, the iPad Pro 2018 will sport a notch on top of the front panel that will house the front camera and other sensors. The images reveal the notch quite clearly.
The upcoming iPad Pro lineup will have lesser bezels and more screen real estate, as we can draw of the images. According to Macotakara, The 10.5-inch model of the iPad Pro 2018 will measure 247.5mm (Height) x 178.7mm (Width) x 6mm (Thickness), while the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 could measure 280mm (H) x 215mm (W) x 6.4mm (T). It means that this time around Apple is trying to fit more screen without taking too much on the sides and overall body.
Other details about the 2018 models of the iPad Pro include the Face ID, which may not be supported in the landscape mode. It could be a problem though, as many users who have accessories like Smart Keyboard, mostly use their iPad in landscape mode and not having Face ID support in that mode could add more work for the users when they want to unlock the device as first they have to turn it vertically. Macotakara also notes that Apple may also move the Smart Connector on the 2018 iPad Pro models to the “the lower rear side – close to the Lightning connector.”
Furthermore, the reports from Macotakara also states that “the next iPad Pro Smart Keyboard may be changed to vertical position specifications.” It implies that the 2018 models might come with the functionality to dock vertically into the Smart Keyboard, but we are quite doubtful about its working at the moment.
Having mentioned everything that the report from the Macotakara revealed, we would like to add that rumours should always be taken with a pinch of salt as there is no confirmation on these details from Apple. Besides, Macotakara has never been a hundred percent right when it comes to getting all the details right about an upcoming Apple product. Yes, many of the scoops did turn out to be in line for the past launches, but there it can also go off track.
