Destiny 2: Forsaken is bringing a ton of new changes to the game, including a new and improved mod system that will make mods more interesting and unique for all players.
The mod system in Destiny 2 is a messy one, but Bungie is looking to fix that when Forsaken launches this fall. According to this month’s issue of Game Informer, Bungie is making the mod system a lot more unique and interesting, hopefully making Destiny 2’s mods more exciting in the process.
According to the article, the number of mods in Destiny 2 is actually going down with there being less mods to collect overall, which some fans will likely be happy about. The goal for the mod overhaul is to make mods actually worth using, not to overload players with a large number of mods. The new mods will instead be geared toward specific playstyles, or specific types of guns. This change will likely play well into the new weapon system coming alongside Forsaken.
The examples given in the article were increased hip-fire accuracy mods, airborne accuracy mods, and mods that would increase damage to vehicles. Mods will also not follow the five-point system of bonuses, but instead just add flat bonuses to the armor. With one of the Scorn Barons being a vehicle expert, perhaps the new Tangled Shore patrol zone will feature more types of vehicles for players to take on or play with.
Forsaken is also bringing a slew of quality of life changes that Destiny 2 desperately needs. This includes more vault space, collections, and the ability to retrieve mods from armor when dismantling. Being able to retrieve mods back after using them is a huge change and could come in handy if a new set of armor has a mod but not great perks. With the addition of random rolls back into the game, the new mod system will give players a little more control over their loadout.
Forsaken seems to be a major step in the right director for Destiny 2. Hopefully all the changes that Bungie is bringing to the game make it a much better and more enjoyable experience overall, as it seems that they are hitting on a lot of topics the community has been upset about since the game launched.
Destiny 2: Forsaken launches September 4 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
