The video game developer Epic Games officially adds a handful of 4th of July-themed skins to Fortnite’s item shop in order to celebrate Independence Day.
Whether it’s new game modes, weapons, in-game items, or cosmetics, Epic Games has kept Fortnite flush with content ever since the publisher and developer decided to make the title’s Battle Royale portion free-to-play last year. Now, the studio has decided to not only beef up the amount of wares players can obtain, but also use the global phenomenon’s item shop as a means to celebrate Independence Day by adding a handful of 4th of July-themed skins.
As seen in the image below, Fortnite fans are currently able to pick up the new Independence Day skins now ahead of tomorrow’s festivities should they wish to commemorate the United States of America’s federal holiday in the wildly popular multiplayer sandbox survival shooter. When it comes to cost, the latest store update offers the 4th of July-themed Fireworks Team Leader for 1,500 V-Bucks, while the Star-Spangled Ranger and Trooper are both priced at 800 V-Bucks apiece.
For those unaware, this isn’t the first instance of Epic Games injecting new content into Fortnite as a way to both observe a holiday and offer up new cosmetic materials for players to get their hands on. As it so happens, the development team brought Valentine’s Day skins into the hybrid construction shooter several months ago. Not to mention, the Halloween, Christmas, and Lunar New Year seasons were celebrated in their own ways with cosmetics as well.
All things considered, with many Americans having tomorrow off from work, it’s safe to presume a lot of them will be taking a break to catch up on their gaming, with Fortnite being a prime candidate to be played on the holiday. With this being the case, it will be interesting to see how many folks decide to spend their V-Bucks on the new red, white, and blue hued skins to mark the occasion.
Fortnite is available now for Nintendo Switch, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
