Popular Samsung Galaxy S9 feature lands on S8
And the living proof is the June 2018 security patch, which in addition to addressing vulnerabilities in the operating system and other glitches that could possibly expose your data, it also brings one popular Galaxy S9 feature to the Galaxy S8 and Note 8.
Technically, devices that installed the June 2018 security patch are now allowed to set a video as lock screen wallpaper, a feature coming from the Galaxy S9 and now available on the Galaxy S8 and Note 8.
While this is a neat touch that was previously available with third-party apps, it goes without saying that a native option is much more helpful for Samsung users, especially because it’s supposed to work smoother than a third-party implementation.
There are basically two options that this new feature brings to the Galaxy S8 and Note 8: set your own video as a wallpaper on the lock screen or download one from Samsung’s collection (there are also several items that can be purchased from the theme store, as not all are available free of charge).
If you’re not a professional photographer, recording a video that looks beautiful on the lock screen (and possibly creating a perfect loop) isn’t quite an easy thing to do. But the better it looks, the more awesome this feature actually is.
You should notice that all results that are actually videos are marked with a little tag in the lower right corner, and you can simply tap them to see a preview hosted on YouTube. When you pick one that looks good, just click the download button at the bottom of the screen, wait for the process to complete and then simply set it as lock screen background right from the theme store.
If you simply want to use your own video as a lock screen wallpaper, it’s even simpler. Just head over your gallery, open a video that you like and click the options menu in the upper right corner.
