The Xiaomi Android flagship Mi 8 smartphone will be launching soon in India, and it comes as a serious contender for the ‘flagship killer’ position, a title long held by the OnePlus brand. While the OnePlus 6 and the Asus Zenfone 5Z are flagship phones directly coming under the heat of the new entrant, the OnePlus 6 and Asus Zenfone 5Z already have eaten a piece of the cake, so to say, by launching earlier than the Xiaomi flagship. The Mi 8 is touted as the successor to the Mi 6.
The OnePlus 6 was launched in May this year while the Asus Zenfone 5Z will be available from July 9. Expected to launch by July 30, the Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone comes with a speculated price tag of Rs 24,500. So, let’s take a dive into the top five reasons why we feel the Xiaomi Mi 8 can rival the Asus Zenfone 5Z and the OnePlus 6.
The Xiaomi Mi 8, like its rivals, runs on Android Oreo and has an expandable internal storage of 64 GB that can be taken up to 256GB. Bezel-less display makes the fingerprint sensor find a place in the rear, and the handset, like its rivals, is made largely out of glass. For those with a soft spot for nice colours, the phone offers more than its rivals, with black, grey, gold and silver options all priced at the same Rs 24,500 for the launch. Like the others in its competing class, it offers a face unlock feature and has AI supporting its tools for seamless, slick performance. The rear camera sports a dual LED flash, and the front 20MP camera can be used for shooting videos and making video calls apart from AI-assisted photography. The fast-charging connector will be a Type-C cable, and all the connectivity options in the budget flagship phone range are offered.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 is expected to launch by July end at a lucrative price tag of Rs 24,500.
