The Pixel Stand is expected to launch along with the Pixel 3 smartphone this fall.
Google has had a difficult time keeping its coming Pixel 3 smartphone a secret. There have been an abundance of leaks with one from last week confirming again that the device has a single rear camera and a notched screen. Previous leaks had shown what the device will look like in its black and white colors. A new Google app 8.14 beta has also rolled out, which integrates some code that references a device called the „Pixel Stand.“
The Pixel Stand is expected to launch along with the Pixel 3 smartphone this fall. The code hints that the Pixel Stand will let users get „personalized help“ when the smartphone is docked. The code in question can be read below:
There are other tidbits in the new app as well, including a change that moves „Mobile Calling“ settings from previous versions into a „Video & Voice Apps“ menu. Other code in the app references something called „Herbie“ and it’s not clear if this is a feature or another hardware device. Herbie could be a reference to the famous car from the movies, but whatever it is, Herbie seems to be aimed at automobiles. The code in the updated app also points out that the At a Glance widget is now compatible with Android 4.2 or higher. It only worked with devices running Android 7.0 or higher before.
