Elon Musk sent out an early-morning tweet Sunday linking to a clip of “Downfall” – a movie about Adolf Hitler’s last days – with doctored subtitles portraying the German madman as a stock-fund manager betting against Tesla.
“Dang, turns out even Hitler was shorting Tesla stock,” the CEO tweeted at 6 a.m. Los Angeles time along with a link to the 4-minute YouTube parody.
The video involves a clip from the German-language movie that has been parodied numerous times since it was released in 2004.
In the version tweeted out by Musk, Hitler is cast as a fund manager yelling at staff that have defended Tesla’s newest electric car.
“If Tesla doesn’t go bankrupt soon, I’ll lose everything,” says a caption over a sweaty, angry Hitler.
In the movie, the clip involves Hitler discussing war tactics with his generals before realizing he is losing the war.
Last month, Musk sent an early-morning Sunday tweet attacking one of the divers who helped rescue a group of boys from a Thai cave.
