The Hong Kong-based smartphone maker Infinix today launched its note design smartphone called Infinix Note 5, and priced it aggressively at Rs 9,999. The handset challenges popular note smartphones from Chinese brands such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.
The Infinix Note 5, although ditching the notched display design, has come with AI features for enhanced power optimization and camera features. Check out the details below.
The Infinix Note 5 is launched under the Android One programme, which means that note-design smartphone will boot Android 8.1 Oreo in stock version when bought, and soon get an upgrade to Android 9 Pie. The phone will also get timely official updates directly from Google for two years, including security patches, so the device is safe from software issues for quite a while.
Also, the handset gets special Google features such as Google Lens, that lets you find objects online by pointing your camera at them, and the voice-control software called Google Assistant.
The Infinix Note 5 has been launched in India today and will go on sale starting August 31 for Rs 9,999. The handset is to be sold exclusively on Flipkart, and will ship in Berlin Gray, Ice Blue, and Milan Black colours. Flipkart has already put up a Notify Me button so that you can enter your mail id and keep yourself updated with the sale release of the handset.
The Infinix Note 5 ships with a standard 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, which is expandable to 128GB. The display is 5.99 inches with Full HD+ resolution, and the camera gear includes a single-sensor 12MP rear camera and a 16MP front shooter. The device is powered by a 2.0GHz Mediatek Helio P23 octa-core processor and a 4,500 mAh battery.

The handset gets 18W fast charging, dual SIM 4G VoLTE support, a premium-looking glass-finish rear panel, and a full-view display. While the handset keeps a full notch at the top and a chin at the bottom, it still achieves a nice 85 per cent screen-to-body ratio with the Full View display. The glass finish comprises a 10-layer coating of nano-chrome particles that reflect light, so you get a smooth and premium-looking rear panel.
The selfie camera is optimized for low-light photography and gets a wide f/2.0 aperture plus artificial intelligence support. It has a 4-in-1 pixel technology and soft light flash for clear portraits. The bokeh feature is achieved by AI Bokeh Mode in the selfie camera as well as the rear camera, and the AI Beauty mode identifies facial points and beautifies faces in photographs according to AI deep learning, which improves as you go on clicking.
The rear camera also gets a wide f/2.0 aperture, large 1.25-micrometer pixels, dual LED flash, and AI-based auto scene recognition. Other camera features include Wide Angle selfie, Night Mode, and Time Lapse.
Infinix claims that the 4,500 mAh battery on the Infinix Note 5 can keep the device going for a full three days, with artificial intelligence helping in the optimization of battery power usage based on the phone’s usage patterns. The 18W fast charging can power the device for a whole day of use in just 30 minutes. Infinix also claims that the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor unlocks the handset in just 0.3 seconds.
Connectivity features include dual Nano SIM support with VoLTE and a third slot for microSD card, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, but no NFC or Type-C USB. The Infinix Note 5 weighs 175 grams.
