LAMOTTE TWP., MI – One man was killed and another injured after they were hit Wednesday while changing a tire in Sanilac County.
A 911 call came in at 11:03 p.m. on Aug. 1 reporting two people had been hit by a vehicle while they changed the tire on West Sanilac Road near Germania Road, the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Investigators said a 33-year-old Sandusky man was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer west on West Sanilac Road when he hit two men who were in the road changing a tire, the statement said.
An eastbound vehicle met the Explorer at the point of impact with the pedestrians, police said. Anyone with information about that vehicle is asked to call Sgt. Shelly Park at 810-648-200 extension 2.
Police said a third uninjured person was standing behind the 2010 Ford Fusion while the other two were changing the driver’s side rear tire.

Deputies began CPR when they arrived on the scene, but a 22-year-old man was later pronounced dead.
A 21-year-old Bad Axe man was taken to Marlette Hospital and later transferred to McLaren-Lapeer and is in stable condition, the statement said.
