Thanks to this new integration, Nest X Yale Lock users will be able to lock their door with a simple voice command, remotely check the status of their lock from anywhere, and include locking the door in an Assistant Routine.
When PCMag reviewed the Nest X Yale Lock, one of our biggest gripes was its lack of voice activation support, but starting tomorrow, the sleek-looking smart door lock will play nice with Google Assistant.
The Nest X Yale Lock will work with the digital assistant on smartphones and Google Home devices, allowing voice commands for the first time.
Thanks to this new integration, Nest X Yale Lock users will be able to lock their door with a simple voice command, remotely check the status of their lock from anywhere, and include locking the door in an Assistant Routine. Launched earlier this year, the Assistant Routine feature can help you take care of several tasks, like turning off the lights and locking the door, with a single command, such as „Hey Google, goodnight.“
The Next X Yale Lock earned an „excellent“ rating in PCMag’s June review. „It’s fairly easy to install, and it offers some nice features including Auto-Lock, One-Touch Locking, and a timeline that tells you who has locked and unlocked the door and when,“ we said at the time.
Besides the wait for voice activation support, our other main complaint is that it doesn’t work with IFTTT or Z-Wave home automation devices.
„It’s a great choice if you already use other Nest devices, but it doesn’t offer quite the same level of interoperability that you get with our Editors‘ Choice, the August SmartLock Pro + Connect,“ we wrote.
