The Tab A 10.5 carries a 10.5 inch TFT display with a resolution of 1920×1200. Surrounding the display are slim bezels, similar to those we saw on the Tab S4. Above the display, you will find a 5MP camera for Skype chats or selfies. The most notable aspect of the front of the device is what is missing. With no physical home button, there is no fingerprint sensor, but there is also no iris scanner like on the premium Tab S4, so you will have to make do with more traditional PINs and passwords.
Powering the tablet is the Snapdragon 450, an octa-core processor which can be clocked up to 1.8GHz. This is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Via microSD card expansion, you can add up to 400GB of extra space for storing your movie collection, music, or apps. Inside is a 7300mAh battery which can be charged via the USB Type-C port.
Flipping over the device, you will find the main 8MP camera with flash.
Samsung’s tagline for the Tab A 10.5 is ‚Fit for the Whole Family‘. The tablet features a number of features that are designed to make entertainment more enjoyable, and that starts with the display. It is now larger than previous Tab A models which will give more room for viewing content. The tablet also comes with quad speakers with Dolby Atmos sound, just like the Tab S4, which will give a rich surround sound to immerse you.
The Tab A 10.5 also comes with features for managing multiple family members including Kids Mode, so that parents can control what their children are able to access on the tablet. For home, Samsung has integrated support for their SmartThings family of connected devices so that you can turn the lights on from your tablet. With the Always On Daily Board, you can view important information for the day including weather and calendar information while being able to view photos in the background.
The Tab A 10.5 will be available in Blue, Grey, and Black. Both a Wi-Fi only model and an LTE model will be available. The release date and pricing information is not yet available, but Samsung cites it as being ‚budget-friendly‘. We will be sure to update you when we know more.
