Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer has been put on paid leave amid an investigation after damning texts were published Wednesday.
Meyer, the legendary coach, said last week he had no knowledge about a pair of domestic violence incidents involving former assistant coach Zach Smith, who was fired after the cases became public.
On Wednesday, college football reporter Brett McMurphy released an explosive report that included an interview with Smith’s former wife, who claims Meyer knew more than he let on.
“All the [coaches’] wives knew,” Courtney Smith told McMurphy. “They all did. Every single one.”
Smith has released many text messages and pictures of the alleged abuse.
In a 2015 exchange between Courtney and Lindsey Voltolini, the wife of Brian Voltolini, Ohio State’s director of football operations and a longtime member of Meyer’s staff, Lindsey said, “He [Urban] just said he [Zach] denied everything.”
