After announcing it in June, Apple has finally made its latest macOS update available to all. The macOS Mojave update brings new features like Dark Mode, Stacks, Quick Look, and more.
Apple’s latest OS update, macOS Mojave, was initially announced back in June during WWDC. Today, the company is finally making it available to all as a free update.
Perhaps the most talked about feature of the new update is Dark Mode. According to Apple, Dark Mode is a „dramatic“ look that will allow users to work with a distraction-free desktop. As you can probably surmise, the mode will present the OS in a dark theme that will be easier on the eyes at night. Best of all, it not only applies to the desktop, but to built-in apps as well and offers third-party support if developers choose to take advantage of the look for their apps. There will also be a Dynamic Desktop mode that will slowly change the look from standard to Dark Mode depending on the time of day.
Apple has also implemented Stacks, a feature that will attempt to declutter your desktop by keeping your files organized in… stacks. It will categorize different kinds of files which will be sorted accordingly. You can expand each stack to reveal all of the relevant files. Finder also receives a boost, giving users more information when looking through files, and Quick Look will allow for quick edits on documents, images, audio, and even video projects, without the need to open apps.
The above is just a sample of the new features arriving to macOS Mojave. If you’re curious, you can download the update through the Mac App Store, but make sure you plan out your update, as the install can take over an hour.
