Labor Day Shrimp Boil (Motorco Music Hall, 723 Rigsbee Avenue, Durham) – This event starts at noon. $20 tickets include a pound of North Carolina shrimp, new potatoes and corn on the cob.
Paperhand Puppet Intervention: In the Heart of the Fire (Forest Theatre, 123 S. Boundary Street, Chapel Hill) – This stunning show features life-sized puppets at an amphitheatre. Shows continue through Sept. 23.
Treasures of the Earth Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show (N. C. State Fairgrounds) – Vendors will show off their merchandise between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
G-Eazy, Ty Dolla Sign & Lil Uzi Vert (Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek) – The Endless Summer tour stops in Raleigh.
Beer and Banjoes (The Raleigh Times, 4 E. Hargett Street, Raleigh) – This music series is focused on traditional and acoustic music from the region of North Carolina and the Appalachian Mountains.
Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad (The Pour House, 224 S. Blount Street, Raleigh) – The band combines world beats and reggae rhythms.
Yoga on the Lawn (Oak City Brewing, 616 N. First Avenue, Knightdale) – This pay-what-you-can class starts at 6:30 p.m.
Pickin‘ in the Pines (Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) – Tickets are just $5 for this outdoor bluegrass show.
Theatre Raleigh: Once (Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts) – On the streets of Dublin, an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant are drawn together by their shared love of music. Shows run through Sept. 16.
Burgundy Wine Class (Pedaler Wine & Beer, 5910 Duraleigh Road, Raleigh) – Can you distinguish between the world’s favorite grape varieties? This 6:30 p.m. class lets you taste for yourself.
The 2018 Hopscotch Music Festival starts today! Here are some big events:
Hopscotch Day Party (The Pour House, 224 S. Blount Street, Raleigh) – Several bands will play from noon to 5 p.m.
The Flaming Lips (Raleigh City Plaza) – Doors open at 5:30 p.m. HC McEntire and Real Estate will also perform.
The Love Language (Lincoln Theatre, 126 E. Cabarrus Street, Raleigh) – SE Ward, Blanko Basnet, Michael Rault and US Girls will also perform.

Chris Issak (Carolina Theatre of Durham, 309 W Morgan Street, Durham) – The gifted singer-songwriter will play at 8 p.m.
Michael Jackson Tribute (Motorco Music Hall, 723 Rigsbee Avenue, Durham) – The event starts at 9 p.m.

Miguel (Red Hat, 500 S. McDowell Street) – M8alla and DVSN will also perform.
Grizzly Bear (Raleigh City Plaza) – Mipso and Thundercat will also perform.
Raleigh Greek Festival (Jim Graham Building at State Fairgrounds) – Enjoy delicious handmade, authentic Greek Food prepared by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Family and hear live Greek music and see traditional folk dances.
North Carolina Folk Festival (Downtown Greensboro) – The North Carolina Folk Festival features performances and demonstrations by the finest musicians, dancers, and craftspeople. Events will continue Saturday and Sunday.
