Jennifer Horn, the former chairwoman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, slammed President Trump on Friday for “attempting to undermine” the credibility of Christine Blasey Ford, the college professor who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault.
“This is outrageous,” Horn said in a tweet. “Every victim of sexual assault has a right to be heard. We have a duty to listen.”
“@POTUS attempting to undermine her credibility before she gets to speak is both gross and inappropriate,” Horn said.
Ford went public with her accusation in a Washington Post article published Sunday, in which she alleged she was sexually assaulted by Kavanaugh when they were at a high school party in the early 1980s.
Kavanaugh has denied the accusation.
Horn’s remarks came shortly after Trump publicly criticized Ford and raised doubts about the sexual assault allegation against Kavanaugh.
Trump said that if the alleged assault was „as bad as she says,“ then „charges would have been immediately filed.“
„I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn date, time, and place!“ Trump tweeted.
He also took a swipe at Ford’s lawyers, who previously said their client would not testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee until the FBI investigates her allegation against Kavanaugh.
„The radical left lawyers want the FBI to get involved NOW. Why didn’t someone call the FBI 36 years ago?“ Trump said on Friday.
Ford said on Thursday that she is willing to testify next week under “terms that are fair and which ensure her safety.”
Trump also defended Kavanaugh as a „fine man“ and said he is „under assault by radical left wing politicians who don’t want to know the answers.“
„They just want to destroy and delay. Facts don’t matter. I go through this with them every single day in D. C.,“ the president wrote on Twitter.
